The Impact of Colonization Past, Present, and Future
Cultural erasure is the systematic removal, suppression, or marginalization of a group’s cultural identity, language, traditions, spiritual practices, and worldviews. It happens when dominant powers — often through colonization, assimilation policies, or institutional racism — attempt to eliminate the unique cultural markers of a people in order to absorb or control them.
